Lisa’s Springtime Wedding

Today we had the pleasure of doing Hair and Makeup for the lovely bride Lisa, her 4 bridesmaids and gorgeous mum. Luckily for us the wedding was at the beautiful Sunshine Coast – Noosa, north brisbane.

Lisa wore a beautiful fitted wedding gown with layers of frills scolloped around the bottom of the dress. Simply stunning. The bridesmaids wore long elegant dresses in a light shade of purple.

The wedding hair the bridesmaids chose were soft and feminine with beautiful cream flowers, all to compliment the lovely surroundings of springtime in Noosa.

Lisa chose a more traditional high bun for her wedding hairstyle, very classic with soft tendrals to keep in with the bridesmaids look.

Highlight your Eye Makeup for Spring

Spring is in the air and it’s time to shine!

Today we are talking about highlighting the inner corner of the eye. By adding a makeup highlighter or brightening up this area, you can really add another dimension to the eye area. It’s a fail safe red carpet Makeup look, and has made it’s way into the Spring 2011 runways with attention grabbing pigment.

Easy to do!

If your wanting to open up your eyes, simply use a gold, silver, pink, white or cream makeup highlighter, eyeshadow or liner pencil, and draw a horizontal line along the top to the bottom of the inner corner of your eye. Blend with a cotton tip and extend the colour just under the lower lash line.

TIP 1 Works well on all eye shapes, and very effective when trying to balance out close-set eyes.

TIP 2 Use shimmery shadows. Matte colour will look a bit flat.

Applying Makeup with a foundation brush

By learning how to apply your foundation using a foundation brush can mean the difference between a flawless finish and an unpolished look. Ensure an even finish and avoid a blotchy makeup application with this very handy tool.

Brushes, when applying makeup are a necessity for flawless makeup application. And investing in a good set will last you for years, with the right maintainence and care. They enable eyeshadows to blend, eyeliner to glide and lipstick to fill every inch of the mouth and blush to hit just the right areas.

Although there are alot of tools on the market to apply foundation including sponges, I much prefer the Foundation brush. I believe this tool is more versatile and universal than the rest.

How to apply

Pour a small amount of foundation onto a saucer or flat tile.
Pick up some product with the brush
Use broad strokes to sweep and blend makeup onto nose, cheeks, forehead and chin and blend out around the face.
Use tapered edge of brush to blend makeup into corners of nose, hairline, around eyes and mouth.

Cleaning your Foundation Brush

Cleaning of all makeup brushes is imperative in order to keep them bacteria free. Lingering bacteria can also cause acne breakouts.

It’s good to shampoo your brushes once a week and use a Makeup brush Cleaner spray after each use in between washing.

Foundation brushes will work well with all types of foundations, including creams, liquids and even solids.
